Clemson vs Georgia Tech

I was a little disappointed to see Boise State in front of Clemson in this week's AP poll. Boise State struggled against Air Force this past Saturday while Clemson rolled up 59 points over UNC and 56 against Maryland last week. I admit that the Tigers' defense is in need of improvement but the pollsters placing Boise State above Clemson was just really strange.
Anyway, speaking of Clemson's defense, I am concerned about the Georgia Tech game. Tech has a high powered offense and uses that triple option-which Clemson struggled with this season against Wofford. The Tigers have allowed too many points this year. Offensively the Tigers could roll up points on anyone they face. I figure it will be a close game on Saturday night in Atlanta but will also be a high scoring game.
I think it will come down to who has the ball last and this game will be close til late into the fourth quarter. I don't have a good feeling about this one. Clemson's struggles on defense has me thinking that this might be the end of the Tigers' win streak.
In 2000 Clemson entered the Georgia Tech game 8-0 and ranked number 3 in the nation. The Tigers and Jackets exchanged leads several times before Tech scored a winning touchdown with 7 seconds left.

I hope I'm wrong and I am hoping for a Tiger win. A win would maybe help Clemson earn some respect. People are still waiting for Clemson to fall apart like past Tiger teams have done in the past. I think Clemson has proven that they are a very good football team and are past the collapse stage of things at this point. But as weeks go on and Clemson keeps winning, I just wonder where it all will end as those Tiger collapses of old have me in a negative state of mind. I think if Clemson can come away with a win over Tech - the Tigers will stand a very good chance of finishing unbeaten. Still the defense needs to improve. Clemson allowed 38 points against UNC and 45 against Maryland in the past two weeks. A performance like that against Tech will have Clemson out of the ranks of the unbeaten.
My prediction--hope I am 100 percent wrong::: Tech by 4 (close all the way). Prove me wrong Tigers!!!

Dangerous Saturday For Clemson

The Clemson football team will be entering Saturdays game coming off huge wins over former top 15 teams; Auburn, Florida State, and Virginia Tech. I think this coming Saturday`s ACC matchup vs Boston College could be a dangerous game for the 8th ranked Tigers. Past history shows that times when Clemson picks up major wins or climbs high into the rankings-they fall apart. In 2003, Clemson was ranked #3 after opening the season 8-0. The very next week after struggling to defeat NC State, Clemson fell at home to Georgia Tech on a game winning touchdown pass from George Godsey with 7 seconds left. The following week the Tigers were defeated by Florida State 54-0.
On my way home yesterday I listened to The Ref radio 960 am "The Five at Five" show. This is a local sports talk show here in Athens. The guys on the show were talking about how Clemson has a good shot at running the table-finishing undefeated. All that sounds great to me but I want to avoid the jinx factor. Clemson has just 2 strong teams left -USC and Georgia Tech. I would love to see the Tigers finish unbeaten but would settle for a conference championship and a BCS bowl game. Its these teams in the next couple of weeks that Clemson will need to watch out for. The teams that the Tigers should defeat are the ones that are the most dangerous.
I`m not getting fully excited yet-dangerous Saturday is in 2 days. I'm just saying......

Prediction: I hope the Tigers roll and keep from repeating their past history of flops.
Tigers by 19 over BC.
UT by 4 over Georgia.

Clemson 9th in nation in offense

Clemson enters today ranked 9th in the nation in total offense (552 ypg). Last year at this time the Tigers were 88th.

Clemson vs FSU 3:30 ESPN Saturday

Well I never would have thought that Clemson would have beaten Auburn this week. After struggling against Troy and Wofford in the first two games, I wasn't expecting to see Clemson hang in with Auburn. I was glad to see so many freshmen having good games and Boyd the quarterback who tossed 4 touchdown passes.
I need a second Miracle:: Clemson to defeat Florida State on Saturday. It's going to be interesting to see if the Tigers can ride the high from Saturday or if they will follow a pattern of losing after a big win. Florida State on the other hand will be coming off a hard loss to Oklahoma and might be without their starting quarterback who went down late in the game. I'm thinking a win over FSU will push Clemson into the top 25. This could change by next Saturday but I am going to have to say FSU by 3 over my Tigers.

Hoping for a Miracle on Saturday

Well I do believe in miracles but for Clemson to beat Auburn-it might take more than a miracle. If Clemson played the way they did last Saturday, beating Wofford by just a small margin, Saturday's game with Auburn will be ugly.
I am picking Auburn by 12 points. I'd like to think Clemson was looking ahead to this week during last Saturday's contest.
The game is in Death Valley and that's a plus, but a 12:00 kickoff will not be an advantage for Clemson. It's too early of a start time. Nothing good comes from such an early kickoff. Anyway, I'm hoping for the best but I don't feel it. Prove me wrong Clemson!!

Georgia over Coastal Carolina by 35
Loganville over Madison County by 5

2-0 But Clemson might be in for a long season

Clemson struggled against Wofford today winning 35-27. I'm afraid the Tigers might be in for a long season because next week Auburn comes to Death Valley followed by Florida State and Virginia Tech. They may have been looking ahead to next week but the Tigers looked terrible today.

Good start to college football for me

It was a great weekend for college football if you are a Clemson fan living in Georgia. The Tigers rallied for a strong second half to push past Troy and then later that night Boise State put one on the Georgia Bulldogs. So maybe for all those people who brag about Georgia and the SEC...... and how the ACC is so weak--well maybe Boise State should jump into the SEC and Georgia into the ACC. Just a thought.
