Middle School sports season complete

A full day of tournaments for the Madison County Middle School boys and girls soccer and baseball teams took place in Elberton on Saturday. The Mustang boys soccer team won the region title in an overtime win over Franklin County but the girls came up just short of doing the same by falling to Franklin County in their championship game. This was just the first loss of the season for the Lady Mustangs who finished the season as region regular season champions.

The Mustang baseball team defeated Elbert County 3-1 to advance to the championship game against region powerhouse Stephens County. Madison County fell behind 9-3 early and despite a five run six inning rally by the Mustangs that closed margin to one run, it was Stephens County who took home the first place trophy. Madison County was the only team to defeat Stephens County in 2 years earlier in the week when the two teams met in Toccoa. The Mustangs finished the 2012 season 11-2-1. Lady Mustangs Volleyball Closes Home Season

The Madison County Lady Mustangs closed the 2011 home part of the schedule with losses to George Walton Academy of Monroe. The A team was swept 20-25 and 12-25. The B team followed by losing the 2 of 3 match up by scores of 23-25 and 21-25.
Madison County will close the season on Saturday in a tournament at George Walton Academy in Monroe.

Lady Mustangs Volleyball Attends UGA Match

The Madison County Lady Mustang volleyball team attended the Georgia Lady Dawgs volleyball match tonight against Ole Miss. The Lady Mustangs watched Georgia defeat Ole Miss 3-1 and remained afterwards for meet and greet, autographs and pictures.

B Team Volleyball Mustangs Win

The Madison County B-team middle school girls volleyball team picked up a win against Jefferson. The Lady Mustangs dropped the first match 25-5 but rebounded to win the second 25-17 and third 15-11 to take the overall. The A team fell 25-21 and 25-10 to Jefferson.

Mustangs volleyball earns split

Madison County's middle school volleyball team traveled to Watkinsville to take on the Westminster Lions. Madison County's A team fell 2-1 and the B team followed by defeating Westminster 2-1. Scores from the A team match: W 25-16, L 19-25, L 15-9. B Team: W 25-23, L 15-25, W 17-15. Madison County will be back in action Wednesday at 4:30 against Jefferson.

Madison County volleyball will host Athens Christian Thursday at 4:30.

Volleyball Mustangs fall to Oconee County

Madison County's volleyball A team jumped out early defeating Oconee County in the first match in middle school volleyball this afternoon. Oconee County bounced back to take the overall with 2 straight wins finishing with a 2-1 win. The B team Mustangs also fell to Oconee County by a 2-0 score. MCMS returns home on Thursday to face Athens Christian at 4:30.

The Mustangs face Hart County. Madison County defeated Hart County earlier this year in Hartwell.

It's just what I talked about in one of my columns--be proud win or lose. The Madison County Middle School volleyball team was defeated by a very good Athens Academy team tonight. Our girls never hang their heads. They have a lot fun playing the game and enjoy time with their friends laughing and having a good time afterwards.. Being proud win or lose is what's it's all about! Having fun in sports and representing your school well regardless of the outcome of the match! Not getting too high when you win or too low when you lose-that's what it's all about!
